EERI-RU members and other interested applicants:

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill Foundation recently announced that their annual Structural Engineering Travel Fellowship is accepting applicants.

This travel fellowship is for $10,000 and funds a undergraduate or graduate student receiving their degree between July 1 2012 and June 30 2013 in order to “instill in its fellows a heightened sense of the importance of aesthetics in structural design by offering them an opportunity to study buildings and bridges throughout the world.”

The nomination deadline is December 10 2012. Each university can nominate 2 students from the Civil Engineering Department and 2 students from the Architectural Engineering Department. Candidates must intend to enter professional practice in structural engineering in the field of buildings and bridges and must be nominated by the dean or department chair. After nomination the candidates will have until January 28th to submit all necessary documents to SOM for consideration. The winner will be notified no later than March 8th.
